Music and Mayhem

3-5 year olds
Fridays in July • 10:00 – 10:45 am
Marc will introduce kids to the very basics of music making and enjoyment. The classes will not focus on learning any one instrument, but will encourage kids to explore and feel music in a fun and participatory way. There will be a strong emphasis on learning to listen and developing a sense of rhythm.

Rockin’ Rhythm Class

6- 8 year olds
Fridays in July • 10:45 – 11:30
This class will focus on feeling and creating rhythms and connecting musically with others using whatever is nearby and handy. Rhythm is at the very heart of music and is especially important when playing music together. It is in us all and children gravitate to it naturally. Students will be introduced to fun rhythm games and musical ideas of varying levels. All musical abilities will be welcomed and included.

Drumming Together Class

9 – 12 year olds
Fridays in July • 11:30 – 12:15
This class will focus on playing rhythms and connecting musically together. We will work on some fun and challenging drumming games and patterns. We will work on listening to each other and finding a groove. All musical abilities will be welcomed and included.

Adult Classes

$10 drop-in • The Barn – 5365 Jerow Road

Drumming Drop-In

No experience or instruments required
Thursdays in July
Everyone welcome! • 10 – 11 am
This class is for beginners to music or for musicians of any instrument wanting to take the time out to advance their playing by focusing on rhythm. Marc will start from the beginning and approach increasingly complicated rhythms from both a mental and physical angle. The physical part is not that hard; it is the mind that gets stuck! We will take simple rhythmical ideas and turn them into multiple possibilities.

Hornby Folk Club Drop-In

Thursdays in July
Everyone welcome! • 11 am – noon
This is for everyone with a basic musical knowledge (can strum basic chords or play simple melodies, reading music not required). It is for people to learn new tunes and build their repertoire from the folk traditions of the world. We will focus on musical communication and jamming techniques to help us play together in a fun way.
