HUGGS hosted a “fun-raising” project to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation to aid Grandmothers raising their orphaned grandchildren due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. They collected a number of old wooden chairs and stools, prepped them and distributed them to creative members of the community to decorate for a festive auction on July 29, 2011 where these treasures were sold to the highest bidders.
The auction was very successful, raising over $25,000 for Grandmothers in Africa.
