Hornby Island Fire Academy - Second Annual Cadet Camp March 19 & 20, 2008

This spring break the Hornby Island Volunteer Fire Department firefighters spent two days with 21 cadets teaching the fundamentals of firefighting. A lot of fun was had by all. A morning of understanding fire behaviour, the firefighters personal protective gear, cutting up cars, searching for patients in confined spaces, and hoisting patients in high-angle rigging, followed by an afternoon of training in water and foam fire streams surely gave all a good nights sleep. Another year, and another group of wonderful cadets, and their parents are better prepared for those unforeseen events. Lots of learning and lots of new experiences filled the two days.

Thanks to Rachelle Chinnery for these great photos.
