Creations

Drawn by the natural beauty, many artists, musicians, poets and the generally inspired have made their way to Hornby Island to discover a community that supports and celebrates creativity. The diversity and talent of Hornby’s residents is reflected in a thriving year round arts scene and opportunity for creative expression.

In the summer season the many home studios are complimented by two art galleries, The Island Gallery, Arbutus Arts, and also The Pot Shoppe in the Ringside Market. You can find artisans and craftspeople at the twice weekly farmers markets and there are always new and exciting art shows being mounted at the Community Hall and more recently at the ARC, the gallery space of the Hornby Island Arts Council. During the shoulder season (September to November and March to June) the galleries remain open during the weekends and there are often artisan markets held at the community hall. Over the winter, many of the artists will welcome you to their studios, but please give them a call first.

We are known for our painters, potters and fibre artists, but you can also find talented musicians, woodworkers, sculptors, photographers, writers and poets here. An excellent way to get to know our talented community is through the Artist, Music and Authors listings.

Hornby Island is inspiration to many and the catalyst for the manifestation of incredible art of all disciplines.
