A third of Hornby Island is included in provincial and regional parks and extensive Crown lands, offering much opportunity for year round hiking, biking, horseback-riding, photography, and enjoying nature. The ocean around Hornby provides excellent scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing. The Island has an active recreation program and a training facility located at Joe King Ballpark.

Although there is ample opportunity for self-directed recreating, you will also find bike rentals at The Bike Shop and kayak rentals at Hornby Ocean Kayaks, and Hornby Island Diving, a family business that has been owner operated for over 30 years.

Fee-based recreation services are offered on an ad hoc basis or through the co-ordination of the Recreation Committee. The Outdoor Recreation Centre at Tribune Bay also offers recreation programs.
